Reminder: General Meeting and Victory Party
Hello United Museum Workers,
Thank you to everyone who marched in the Labor Day Parade with us and joined us at our local’s Labor Day picnic. We had a great time celebrating with unions from all over the county.
To see a bunch of great photos from Labor Day, check out our social media pages and USW’s Flickr.
Next Local 9562 General Meeting
Everyone in the United Museum Workers is invited to the next meeting of our local THIS FRIDAY on September 15th, 6:30pm-8:30pm on the 4th floor of USW Headquarters. In-person attendance is encouraged (there will be snacks!), but you can also join via Zoom.
Register for the Zoom meeting at this link: bit.ly/9562meeting
We understand that Friday night meetings are not particularly convenient for everyone in our union, especially workers at The Andy Warhol Museum. The main reason why our local has scheduled this meeting on a Friday is that it works well for the United Library Workers, since many of the Carnegie Libraries of Pittsburgh stay open until 7:00pm every weeknight except for Friday nights. However, if enough UMW members show up to the meeting this Friday, we could potentially make a strong case for scheduling future meetings on a different night of the week. Please invite your coworkers and help make our voices heard!
UMW Victory Party
For more UMW fun and relaxation, join us at our victory party on Tuesday, September 26th at 5:00pm at the Vietnam Veterans’ Pavilion in Schenley Park. All members of UMW, Local 9562, and friends and allies of our union are welcome to attend!
This will be a potluck cookout, so bring something to share with your fellow members! You can use the spreadsheet at this link to let us know what and who you will bring: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1seU58rx8A0QH6JTij0Tl3CB2Rn5uXUgskwzaLz8rurY/edit#gid=0
In addition to eating, drinking, and union bonding, the party will have silkscreen printing from 5:00pm-6:30pm! Bring your own garment and learn how to print the UMW logo on it yourself! Keep in mind that the logo is large and that prints look best on light-colored backgrounds. No silkscreen printing experience necessary; Andy Warhol loved this artmaking process because it is so easy and fun to do!
Questions? Ideas? We want to hear from you! Write to us at [email protected]. Our strength as a union lies in our transparent communication and shared experience. Let’s chat!
