April 10, 2023 - General Meeting Reminder
Hello United Museum Workers,
Join us for our next general membership meeting on Tuesday, April 11 at 6:30pm on the 4th floor of the United Steelworkers Headquarters, 60 Boulevard of the Allies, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
Those who cannot attend in person should email [email protected] for the Zoom registration link.
As usual, we encourage in person attendance and wearing masks.
In order to attend membership meetings you must be a union member. Those attending Tuesday’s meeting in person can sign their membership card at the door; those joining the meeting virtually will need to sign a card in advance. Contact your Contract Action Team Coordinator, or anyone you know who is involved in UMW organizing, and we will get you a membership card as soon as possible.
After two weeks of bargaining and solidarity actions — including a sticker action at the Carnegie Science Center, a screenprinting event at USW Headquarters, and a rally at the closing reception of the Carnegie International — CMP has started to hear our concerns. Our bargaining committee and CMP management are now working with a federal labor mediator to help reach an agreement. This progress is thanks to YOU putting pressure on management through talking to your coworkers and participating in solidarity actions. We have decided to put voting on hold as we give mediation a fair chance. The fight is not over yet! Learn more in the latest bargaining update.
At Tuesday's general meeting, our bargaining committee will share the latest updates about contract proposals and we’ll discuss the evolution in negotiations now that we have a federal mediator. This is your opportunity to ask questions and make your voice heard.
Arrive early to visit the exhibition about the history of the United Steelworkers on the 6th floor of USW Headquarters! Members of our union will have exclusive access to explore the exhibition from 6:00pm to 6:30pm.
See you tomorrow!
Questions? Ideas? We want to hear from you! Write to us at [email protected]. Our strength as a union lies in our transparent communication and shared experience. Let’s chat!
