SEPTEMBER 10, 2021 - UMW Newsletter
Hello United Museum Workers!
As of September 1st, all staff members and visitors age 2 and above have been required to wear masks while in public-facing areas inside CMP’s facilities. Now—as we prepare for high-admission RAD Days and the cold and flu season—we look to our union to keep everyone healthy and comfortable.
Do you and those around you feel safe at work? Do we require more support from CMP in enforcing mask mandates? Are we being heard, empowered, and cared for?
Please attend our Health & Safety Listening Session on Tuesday, 9/14 from 6:30–8:00pm

This is an opportunity to raise your voice and hear from others. We need to ensure that CMP’s policies prioritize the health & safety of staff first so we can better protect everyone. By sharing your experiences and insight, you help our Bargaining Committee negotiate with CMP for improved policies and greater accountability in upholding them.
If you cannot attend the meeting, or want to draw our attention to a particular issue or incident prior to the meeting, we eagerly await your concerns and suggestions. Please contact your museum’s CAT Coordinator or contact us at unitedmuseumworkers.usw@gmail.com.
In case you missed it:
Wednesday, September 1st was UMW’s very first bargaining session! Click here to read Bargaining Committee Co-Chair Jenise Brown’s summary.
In partnership with the United Steelworkers and the United Library Workers, the United Museum Workers paid tribute to Pittsburgh’s workforce this Labor Day with an op-ed, co-written by Kira Yeversky of ULW and UMW's own Tom Fisher. We celebrated the holiday in solidarity and style with a Virtual Visibility Day on social media. Thank you to everyone who submitted photos!
More excitement is on the way. Our union’s first ever Potluck will be on Monday, October 4th at the Vietnam Veterans Pavilion in Schenley Park. There’s still plenty of time to RSVP. Join us for an evening of eating, drinking, bonding and button-making! We hope to see you there!
Questions? Ideas? We want to hear from you! Write to us at unitedmuseumworkers.usw@gmail.com. Our strength as a union lies in our transparent communication and shared experience. Let’s chat!
