April 3, 2023 - General Meeting Invitation
Hello United Museum Workers,
We urge all UMW members to attend perhaps our most important meeting yet on Tuesday, April 11th at 6:30p at USW Headquarters, 60 Blvd of the Allies, Pittsburgh PA, 15222. Share widely in your networks, talk to your coworkers, and bring as many voices to the table as you can. We will determine the next steps integral to finalizing our first contract, as unfortunately CMP management still fails to meet our needs.
Those who cannot attend in person should email [email protected] for the Zoom registration link. As usual, we encourage in person attendance and wearing masks.
Sign Your Union Membership Card
In order to attend the next meeting and vote on any decisions we make as a union, you must sign a union membership card. Those who have not yet signed a card can still do so before the 11th. Contact your Contract Action Team Coordinator, or anyone you know who is involved in UMW organizing, and we will get you a membership card as soon as possible. If you are not sure who to contact, you can email us at [email protected].
Thank You for your Solidarity
Several solidarity actions have taken place across the city in the past two weeks, including a sticker action at the Carnegie Science Center, a screenprinting party organized by educators at The Warhol, and a demonstration outside the Carnegie International closing reception in Oakland. Thank you so much to everyone who facilitated and participated in these actions! Now is an important time to make our union visible and to have some fun amid the stress of organizing.
Keep an eye out for future solidarity actions, we’re not done yet! Feel free to contact us if you have ideas for other actions at your museum.
Questions? Ideas? We want to hear from you! Write to us at [email protected]. Our strength as a union lies in our transparent communication and shared experience. Let’s chat!
