Hello United Museum Workers!
The Next Giant Leap: A Living Wage!
An exciting new exhibition at the Carnegie Science Center, Mars: The Next Giant Leap, is about to lift off!
While Mars: The Next Giant Leap inspires us to “imagine a better future on a different planet,” the United Museum Workers are fighting for better futures right here in Pittsburgh for the Carnegie Museums staff.
Join us tomorrow as we gather outside the Carnegie Science Center from 10:00am-2:00pm on Saturday, November 19th to encourage CMP management to agree to our living wage proposal. We will share leaflets with the public informing them of our economic goals.
Mars: The Next Giant Leap is Union Made, just like all of our other fabulous exhibitions at the Carnegie Museums. This action at the exhibition opening, much like the rally at the opening of the Carnegie International and our recent sticker action, is an important way for us to support our colleagues and to remind the public of the contributions of our union.
These demonstrations definitely make an impact in improving our working conditions and our position at the bargaining table as we work towards our first contract. Our presence matters because we need to show management that we have strength in numbers and that CMP cannot operate without us; so bring your coworkers, family, and friends to Mars!
In case you missed it…
Ethan Gladding, a member of our Bargaining Committee, wrote the most recent bargaining update. Check it out on our website to learn more about how economic negotiations are going and why it is important for all of us to show our support tomorrow morning.
Questions? Ideas? We want to hear from you! Write to us at [email protected]. Our strength as a union lies in our transparent communication and shared experience. Let’s chat!
