MARCH 17, 2023 - Come to the General Meeting
Hello United Museum Workers!
Come to our Next General Meeting
We have another general meeting coming up on Tuesday, March 21st at 6:30pm on the Fourth Floor of USW Headquarters, 60 Blvd of the Allies, Pittsburgh PA, 15222.
This is an especially important meeting as we consider the possibility of an upcoming strike authorization vote. Hear the latest updates from our bargaining committee, discuss strategies to finally win our first contract, and let’s sign a few more membership cards!
We encourage all attendees to wear masks. Parking in Downtown Pittsburgh is free after 6:00pm. We recommend in-person attendance, but those who cannot be there can email [email protected] for the Zoom link.
Invite your coworkers!
Recap: Strike Education Sessions
Thank you to everyone who attended one of our Strike Education Sessions last week. We hope that you found these sessions informative and empowering.
For anyone who was unable to attend a session, fret not! You can ask representatives from the Contract Action Team, as well as any other coworkers who attended these sessions, to answer the questions you may have about a possible strike. Participants in those sessions are now equipped to inform you about the ways to build and show solidarity in the lead-up to an authorization vote, the logistics of maintaining a picket line, financial assistance offered by the USW defense fund, and what legal rights we would have as striking workers.
If you’re not sure who to talk to, feel free to email us at [email protected].
Our Latest Bargaining Update
The Bargaining Committee’s latest update responds to the new communication from CMP management in which they boast about the moderate wage increases that have been implemented since we formed the United Museum Workers. Our union is proud of what we have already accomplished at the bargaining table, but we are still not satisfied with CMP’s current proposal.
As it stands, CMP management’s economic proposal still includes inadequate wages and they want to deny us the opportunity to bargain over future changes to healthcare benefits. They have also brought forth very little when it comes to significant benefits for part-time workers, and they refuse to budge on free parking.
We appreciate CMP’s commitment to bargaining in good faith, but there remains a lot of work to do before we can get a first contract that fairly compensates everyone in our union. Read the entire update on our website.
Questions? Ideas? We want to hear from you! Write to us at [email protected]. Our strength as a union lies in our transparent communication and shared experience. Let’s chat!
