OCTOBER 25, 2021 - UMW Newsletter
Hello United Museum Workers!
On Saturday, November 6, and Sunday, November 7, the United Museum Workers and United Library Workers are joining forces for Crash the Carnegies, helping visitors enjoy and explore our beloved institutions in honor of our shared 125th anniversary.
Saturday, November 6 is all about you! Let’s show our solidarity and celebrate our collective strength with a UMW visibility day! Wear your button to work, tag us @UMWpgh in your museum selfies, and then...
Meet us on Sunday, November 7, from noon til 2pm at the trees near Dippy (at the corner of Schenley Drive Extension and Forbes Ave) for an afternoon of treats, crafts, and autumnal fun!
Many of our members work on the front lines, protecting our public, our coworkers, and our museums' collections. Are you working that weekend? Stop by our table on Sunday and pick up some free UMW gear and refreshments in thanks for your dedication!
Join us in ringing in the next 125 years with our union family, including the United Library Workers!
In case you missed it...
Pam Curtin of CMNH Powdermill Nature Reserve shared some exciting news regarding our recent victory in negotiating wage increases to follow up the $10 minimum hourly rates. Click here to read more.
Potluck Photos
Thank you to everyone who joined us at our first UMW Potluck! We had a fabulous time eating, drinking, drawing, making buttons, and finally celebrating our union victory in person. We appreciate everyone who helped make this event a success!

Pitt Faculty Victory
Congratulations to the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh for their union election victory! The Union of Pitt Faculty won with 71% of the vote. Just like us, they collaborated with the United Steelworkers to form their union. We love to see more local workers empowering themselves through unionization. Read more about their achievement here.
Questions? Ideas? We want to hear from you! Write to us at unitedmuseumworkers.usw@gmail.com. Our strength as a union lies in our transparent communication and shared experience. Let’s chat!
