October 31, 2022 - UMW Newsletter
Hello United Museum Workers!
The Next Giant Leap: A Living Wage!
An exciting new Carnegie Museums’ exhibition, Mars: The Next Giant Leap, is about to lift off!
Join us as we gather outside the Carnegie Science Center from 10:00am-2:00pm on Saturday, November 19th to encourage CMP management to agree to our living wage proposal. We will share leaflets with the public informing them of our economic goals.
Mars: The Next Giant Leap is union made, just like all of our other fabulous exhibitions at the Carnegie Museums. This action at the exhibition opening is an important way for us to support our colleagues at CSC and to remind the public of the contributions of our union. Our presence matters; so bring your coworkers, family, and friends to Mars!
Solidarity Sticker Action
Who doesn't love stickers? Our bargaining committee has an all-day bargaining session on November 7th, and we are asking everyone working onsite that day to wear custom UMW stickers to show their support! UMW organizers will start distributing stickers on Wednesday, November 2nd and will continue to distribute them through November 7th. All you have to do is wear one of our snazzy, visually appealing stickers during your shift. Solidarity through stickers!
In case you missed it…
Jenise Brown, our Bargaining Committee co-chair, authored the most recent bargaining update. Check it out on our website to learn more about how economic negotiations are going and why it is important for all of us to show our support in the coming weeks.
Questions? Ideas? We want to hear from you! Write to us at [email protected]. Our strength as a union lies in our transparent communication and shared experience. Let’s chat!
