Hello United Museum Workers,
We are thrilled to announce we have reached a tentative agreement (TA) with CMP on our first union contract. After more than a year and a half of bargaining, we have a TA that substantially increases wages and improves the working conditions of workers across CMP. We have earned this strong first contract through our collective strength as museum workers, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.
Now is the moment we have all been waiting for - we are asking our members to VOTE TO ACCEPT this tentative agreement! Once we vote to accept, the TA becomes a legally binding contract and goes into effect.
Voting will begin following the May 15 informational session (see below) and end on Thursday, May 18 at 5 p.m. The voting will be through an online voting system (information on how to vote online will be emailed Monday evening to everyone who has signed a USW membership card).
Before you can vote, you must sign a union card. If you haven’t signed a card, connect with a CAT member, email us at [email protected], or stop by an in-person tabling event or info. session.
At the info. sessions we will walk through the TA and give you the chance to ask questions. Info sessions will be on Monday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m. (on Zoom) and Wednesday, May 17 at 6:30 p.m. (hybrid on Zoom and in-person at the USW Building, 60 Blvd. of the Allies, Pgh.15222).
Here are the links for the two Zoom sessions:
We will also have info tables in the museums where you can talk with us, ask questions, and sign union cards. Please visit us at:
Click here to access a summary of the TA that highlights our wins. We will post the Tentative Agreement itself on the UMW website by this Sunday, May 14. We realize that a contract like this may be unfamiliar to many of our members, so we strongly encourage everyone to attend the info sessions or stop by the info. tables to better understand the TA.
Yet more proof that when we fight, we win!
In Solidarity,
The United Museum Workers Bargaining Committee
