Subject: FINAL REMINDER: Local 9562 Meeting on Sunday
Hello United Museum Workers,
FINAL REMINDER: Local 9562 Meeting
Our next Local meeting will take place on Sunday, January 21st, 6:30pm-9:00pm. Please note that this meeting is happening at a new location because the USW Headquarters is closed on Sundays. Instead, we will meet at The Pittsburgh Friends Meeting House at 4836 Ellsworth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
Be sure to enter the address in your GPS because there is a similarly named Quaker meeting house in Lawrenceville. Our location is in Shadyside near Oakland.
Our snack committee will provide us with delicious snacks!
Any member can make a motion in new business. Here are the motions that we are expecting:
We’ll also have two special guests who will speak early in the meeting: Randi Pearson is the Director of USW Women of Steel. She will speak to us about how Women of Steel Committees function in other Locals.
Patrick McGinty from APSCUF, the faculty union at Slippery Rock University, is the Chair of the statewide PA Promise committee. He will talk to us about advocacy for a statewide version of the Pittsburgh Promise and inviting us to get involved. See info about the proposed program here: http://www.papromise.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/PApromiseOverview010324.pdf
As always, we recommend in-person attendance, but you can attend remotely by using this link to register for the Zoom meeting: bit.ly/local9562
Note that we will handle the meeting chat differently from our previous General Meeting. Chats will go directly to our Zoom host, not to the general chat. Members will request to be recognized by raising their hand, or by messaging the Zoom host, and then make their comment either in the chat or aloud. This will ensure that we take turns speaking and give our full attention to one another.
See you at 4836 Ellsworth Ave! Invite your coworkers!
