Subject: United Museum Workers secure 2.5% cost of living raise for 2022
Our Bargaining Committee met with CMP last December to negotiate raises for 2022. We countered CMP’s proposal for a 1% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) raise, arguing that greater compensation is needed to provide a sustainable wage. Noting the dangers faced by frontline staff and the instability endured by all workers throughout the pandemic, we advocated for the highest feasible COLA raise.
We’re proud to share that all members of the United Museum Workers will receive a 2.5% COLA raise in 2022 that went into effect on January 9. It will be reflected in the first paycheck of February. This is the highest such raise offered in over five years. We’ve established a crucial precedent going forward, and we will continue negotiating wages throughout the contract bargaining process.
You earned this raise! By participating in our bargaining survey, volunteering for our Contract Action Team, and wearing your UMW logo with pride, you demanded more pay for our hard work. Together, we’ve taken an important step in ensuring that CMP workers are rewarded with competitive living wages for our tireless dedication to the museums we love.
We’re excited to begin the new year with this union victory, and we look forward to all we’ll accomplish together in 2022. Want to continue making a difference? Reach out to our Contract Action Team and fill out our Activism Menu to get more involved. Our strength lies in our transparent communication and shared experience.
