UMW Celebrates the New Year on the North Side
What better way to celebrate the season than with a show of solidarity? As our Bargaining Committee continues to fight for raises, benefits, and better conditions for all of us, let’s show our support for them and for each other.
On Saturday, December 31st, UMW will celebrate New Year’s Eve with outreaches at The Andy Warhol Museum and the Carnegie Science Center. We will distribute snacks, buttons, and other union goodies to show our appreciation to the frontline staff members who have to work during the holidays.
If you are available to help give out treats and materials on New Years Eve, please email us at [email protected]
For those of you working at the Oakland museums, know that we haven’t forgotten about you! Our union absolutely appreciates your labor as well and we will plan a similar outreach for your locations in the new year. Want to help plan our next outreach in Oakland? Please email us at [email protected] and we’d love to hear your ideas!
We Went to Mars!
Last month UMW and friends gathered outside of the Carnegie Science Center to advocate for a fair contract during the opening day of the widely anticipated exhibition, Mars: The Next Giant Leap. We talked, sang, and danced with visitors, coworkers, and community members on the North Shore. We also enjoyed some good eats, hot coffee, and love from our supporters, which warmed us greatly on the chilly day. We hope that our message resonated from here to Mars: museum workers deserve a living wage, and we will stand together for a contract that benefits us all.

In case you missed it…
Jim Kappas, a member of our Bargaining Committee and frontline worker at CSC, wrote the most recent bargaining update. Please visit our website to read this important update on how economic negotiations on our contract are going.
Questions? Ideas? We want to hear from you! Write to us at [email protected]. Our strength as a union lies in our transparent communication and shared experience. Let’s chat!
