Hello United Museum Workers,
Thanks to the outpouring of support that you have shown, and in anticipation of a strike authorization, last week CMP requested that the two sides meet with a federal mediator before holding a vote on their proposals. The federal mediator is a neutral, third party who helps the two sides reach an agreement in contract negotiations. We had our first mediation session today and secured some important tentative agreements. We want to give mediation a fair chance and have agreed to three additional mediation sessions this month.
For these reasons, we are going to postpone a membership vote to see if mediation brings us to a tentative agreement that we can endorse. In the meantime, let’s keep up the pressure! Keep organizing, keep wearing buttons, keep putting up car signs, keep showing your support!
Come to our upcoming membership meeting on Tuesday, April 11th at 6:30pm on the Fourth Floor of the USW Building downtown. We’ll review the most recent bargaining agreements and proposals.
