APRIL 14, 2023
Hello United Museum Workers,
On Thursday, April 13th, we met with CMP and are continuing to evaluate the efficacy of mediation and considering our path moving forward. We are being faced with many difficult decisions as we narrow down our topics of bargaining to the most pressing needs of our unit, and know that we are all always considering how best to represent all of you, as we continue to hold fast on things like breaks and parking.
It has been made clear that CMP is holding the line that for a full day's work we would only get one paid break, up to 15 minutes (subject to discretion) and an unpaid lunch, and no seating under ANY circumstances for standing positions. WE THINK THIS IS INSULTING and we know you don’t agree with it either. We want CMP to recognize that we deserve respect and dignity in our jobs. It's time for actions that let CMP know without a doubt that we expect 2 paid breaks for a full day's work to be part of this contract.
We want to take this time to encourage you all to continue the fight for our rights in the workplace by being present, loud, and brave. We need you all to let management know what you demand from them, and show them how strong we can be together.
The fight continues.
Our next mediation sessions with management are Wednesday, April 26th and Thursday, April 27th.
In Solidarity,
The United Museum Workers Bargaining Committee
